Hello! Thank you for your interest in rotating at Lincoln’s Emergency Medicine Residency!

We are excited to introduce you to the South Bronx’s diverse population in New York City. With us, you will have the honor of caring for some of the most vulnerable patients in the city and in the USA. As EM providers, we navigate through their increasingly complex medical conditions, worsening health disparities, and barriers to accessing care.

Our rotation is 4 weeks long. You will be expected to see patients, formulate plans of care, and present them to our senior residents and attending physicians. In addition to on-shift work and learning, you will have the opportunity to join our weekly residency conference on Wednesday mornings where we discuss important medical topics and hear our fellow residents and attendings share the current updates in the world of Emergency Medicine.  Afterwards, you will be involved in a teaching session where you will learn how to improve your presentations, how to better formulate assessments and plans, and how to perform important procedures such as IV placements, central lines, and intubations.  You will be able to practice these procedures in addition to leading real critical care cases in our simulation center where you will be expected to act as the senior and make all the decisions. You will also gain a lot of experience with ultrasound that you can carry on throughout your career in medicine when it comes to diagnosing patients efficiently to expedite their care.

Finally, we want you to develop your interests. During your month with us we hope you will develop one of these areas of interest into a presentation. We hope that with these sessions you’ll have a better, well-rounded concept of what it means to be an emergency medicine physician.

As with all things in medicine, the safety of our staff and our students is our top priority. As such, prior to entering our emergency department you will be provided with the necessary PPE during your time with us (i.e. N95 mask, eyewear, gowns). If you have any questions or concerns regarding safety measures, please reach out to us directly and we’ll be happy to speak with you.

Thank you again for your interest in our emergency medicine residency and department. We look forward to meeting each and every one of you!
